Subject: An Update on our COVID Response for Students
Dear Student,
We hope this email finds you safe and healthy.
We are writing to update you on what the Career Services Team has been working on in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. As a reminder, you can find answers to students’ most-asked questions in our COVID FAQ page
Many of you have asked how we have adapted and expanded our support for job seekers in light of these unprecedented times. First and foremost, rest assured that we will continue to honor our Job Guarantee, because of our commitment to you and our confidence in our program and services. Additionally, the entire Springboard Team has been working to develop and launch new resources to help job-seeking students, with the majority of post-completion students opting to work with us longer to take advantage of additional projects and services. We’ve also added several career coaches to each course to ensure that all students have access whenever they need it. No matter what, we are here to support you until you find a job.
In the past few weeks, we have seen many of our friends and family lose their jobs, or have had their work-life impacted in serious ways. At the same time, we've been inspired by the sheer grit and determination shown by our students. Just in the past month, over 20 Springboard students have reported job offers at companies including Microsoft, IQVIA, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Johnson & Johnson, Samsung, and more. It takes a village, but we have your back. We have been closely monitoring the situation, and regularly updating our Virtual Job Search Guide to help students identify networking & hiring opportunities in this environment.
If you have any questions or concerns related to your progress in the course or your job search, please reach out to your student advisor or to careerservices@springboard.com.
Wishing you all the best,

Your Springboard Career Services Team

Subject: Additional Job Search Resources for COVID-19

Dear (Student Name),

We’re reaching out to provide further updates and resources related to Springboard’s response to COVID-19, and to address questions that have come up as members of our community have been impacted by this dynamic and challenging situation. We continue to monitor the situation closely, and want to emphasize that our biggest concern remains the health, safety and well-being of you and the entire Springboard community.

Here are some important updates we’d like to share:

  • In line with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, we continue to strongly discourage any in-person networking activities; for your required networking activities we encourage you to focus on virtual networking, such as LinkedIn outreach, informational interviews conducted by phone or video call, participating in professional Slack channels, etc.In fact, this is a great time to build your networks since many people are home and likely to be more available for informational interviews.
  • Our latest Career Services Office Hours was hosted by coach Allison McLean last week, with a specific focus on virtual networking! See the full recording here.
  • We have just announced a new Springboard JobTracker Extension for Google Chrome! This extension was created to make logging applications faster and easier for you during this time and beyond. Just download, go to a job posting, log it with the extension, and apply right away!
  • We are continuing to monitor the economic environment around hiring and, while we have recognized that certain companies or industries may have hiring disruptions, we have also seen a steady number of job offers across our community! During this time, students should continue to log at least the minimum number of applications and networking events.
  • The Career Services Team is available, as always, to discuss any specific concerns you have about the impact of COVID-19 on your Springboard experience. Please reach out to careerservices@springboard.com for help with virtual networking, scheduling coaching calls, or any other questions or concerns.

We know that the current environment may be challenging for many in our community. Please remember that we’re here to support you. Once again, don’t hesitate to reach out!

3/11/2020 to Post-Completion Students:

Dear (Student Name),

We’re reaching out with updates and answers to frequently-asked questions about how the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) may impact individual job searches. We continue to monitor the situation closely, and want to emphasize that our biggest concern remains the safety and well-being of you and the rest of the Springboard community. If you believe that the COVID-19 situation is impeding your Springboard experience in any way, as always, please feel free to reach out to your Student Advisor to discuss your concerns.

We wanted to address a few questions that have come up specifically related to individual job searches:

Will this situation affect my Job Guarantee period?

Due to the COVID-19 situation, many companies are delaying or halting their current hiring processes, while others are moving hiring efforts into a virtual environment. Due to this (hopefully temporary) disruption in hiring, we are providing a free, one-month extension of the job search period to all students effective today. Depending on the duration of the COVID-19 outbreak, we may offer more time to students who continue to be affected.

How should I prepare for virtual job search?

Virtual interviewing can be different, but it’s a skill you’ll want to develop. Here are some extra resources for effective virtual interviewing, as well as resources for finding and participating in virtual networking. During this time, all of your required networking activities should ideally be conducted in virtual or online environments. We strongly discourage any in-person networking during this time, unless it is in 1:1 or small group settings with individuals who have no known exposure to COVID-19. You may notice that previously scheduled in-person networking events are moving online, so keep an eye out on your local channels, too!

How can I keep my wits about me during this disruption?

We encourage you to pay attention to and take care of your mental health as it relates to managing stress and anxiety around COVID-19. Please reach out if there are any specific questions that we can help with. Know that we are here to support you!

We are sending wishes for health and safety to all.

Sincerely,

Career Services Team at Springboard

Dear (Student Name),

We’re reaching out with updates and answers to a few questions raised by students about how the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) may impact individual job searches.

We wanted to address a few questions that have come up specifically related to individual job searches during this period:

How can I maintain my networking during the COVID-19 outbreak?

During this time, all of your required networking activities should ideally be conducted in virtual or online environments. We’d also like to share extra resources for finding and participating in virtual networking. Virtual networking might also include LinkedIn outreach, informational interviews conducted via phone or video chat, participating in professional Slack channels, and more. This is also a great topic for you to discuss with your career coach on a call. We strongly discourage any in-person networking during this time, unless it is in 1:1 or small group settings with individuals who have no known exposure to COVID-19. You may notice that previously scheduled in-person networking events are moving online, so keep an eye out on your local channels, too.

How can I prepare for a virtual job search?

Some companies are halting all onsite, in-person interviews and moving to virtual-only interviews during the outbreak. Virtual interviewing can be different, but it’s a skill many of you have already developed or will want to further develop. Here are some resources for effective virtual interviewing

How can I keep my wits about me during this time?

We encourage you to pay attention to and take care of your mental health as it relates to managing stress and anxiety around COVID-19. Please reach out if there are any specific questions that we can help with. Know that we are here to support you!

We are sending wishes for health and safety to all.
